Inktober 17 – Day 3

Another Christopher Hart one today. I like these because it’s quick to sketch and I can try out new tools/techniques. This was my first time inking with a dip pen. It was an interesting experience. The ink takes longer to dry than my other pens and I ended up smearing some in the bottom right. My hatching isn’t the best either, but it was fun to give it a whirl.

Inktober 17 – Day 2

Not much doodling time today, so I went with a drawing straight from one of Christopher Hart’s books. This one isn’t really modified at all from the book version other than I used Copic Sketch markers to add a some values.

Inktober 17 – Day 1

My very first Inktober drawing. I used two different Pentel brush pens to do all of the inking (with a little help from a Signo gel pen for the white bubbles).

I can’t take credit for the overall design – it’s heavily based on a robot design from Christopher Hart, but I added in the ink specific alterations. It’s not the best drawing, but considering I’ve done very little drawing in the last 15+ years, I’m pretty happy with the result. I’ve never tried to draw anything this large, so it was interesting going from 1″ doodles to a drawing that takes up half of an 8.5″ x 11″.
